I wish Cadillac would build the volume crossovers on a RWD platform. They have two different brands between the CT and XT vehicles.

Damn your clickbait. I wanted to see confirmation of the Elmiraj going into production.

Part of me agrees with you, but it’s probably cheaper to use an equinox platform and add AWD, than to use an Alpha platform. And if you look at the BMW X1, buyers seem willing to accept a crossover built off a “lesser” platform as sales numbers for the countryman-based X1 seem just as good if not better than the old 3 series based X1.

It’s not so much an issue of platform, I just don’t like the fact that Cadillac has these Alfa/BMW/Jag fighter sports sedans but Buick/Acura/Lincoln fighter crossovers. If GM had any FWD vehicles set up to at least do an impression of what the sedans do then I’d be fine, however they do not. At least BMW and Mini have the same priorties when it comes to brand philosophy, so there isn’t a real disconnect. Cadillac on the other hand is contradicting itself.

My bad, but I’ve been bitching about their lack of a compact crossover while they complain about lack of sales.
“the Xt5 is a sales hit!”
“great where’s the XT3 and XT7? “
“We’ll get to that later, no big deal”

I don’t mind the FWD platforms, it’s not like any crossover owner will notice the difference. What I do mind is that they are developing these platforms but Chevy gets them first. The Equinox is almost out and the Terrain shortly after that. Where’s the exclusivity?
VAG shares platforms but the most expensive brands get them first.
